About this guide

Ente Kannur Theyyam is a single, trustworthy place for everything a visitor needs to experience Theyyam and the district of Kannur: a season calendar, a directory of kavus with maps and directions, the deities and their stories, and the beaches, forts, crafts and hills that make Kannur the "Land of Looms and Lores".

Who is behind it

This guide is published by GIS Consultant, a brand of Dronimagination Pvt Ltd — a Kannur-based geospatial and drone technology company. It is an independent publication: it is not operated, reviewed, or endorsed by DTPC Kannur, the Kannur District Collectorate, or any other government body. Every source we use — temple notices, the DTPC Kannur and Kerala Tourism calendars, Theyyam calendar websites, Wikipedia, OpenStreetMap — is credited on the page where its information appears.

We link to the real DTPC Kannur and district administration websites in the footer for official tourism services and information; those are separate organisations from us.

How dates work

Theyyam festivals follow the Malayalam (Kollam-era) solar calendar, so the English date moves a little each year. Every date on this guide carries one of these labels:

Confirmed — taken from the temple’s own festival notice (we read each poster), or confirmed with the temple by our team.
Listed — published for this season by a Theyyam calendar website; we have not yet seen the temple’s own notice.
Estimated — worked out from the festival’s traditional Malayalam date. Some festivals are fixed afresh every year, and almanacs can differ by a day, so treat these as a guide only.
Dates to be announced — no date yet for this season. Where we know when it was held last season, the venue page shows that for reference.
