Kannur's own city beach, with a landscaped garden, the famous "Mother and Child" sculpture and long walks along the promenade.
Payyambalam is the beach of Kannur town, a short ride from the railway station. A landscaped park with the well-known "Mother and Child" sculpture by Kanayi Kunhiraman sits at the entrance, and a paved promenade runs along the shore. The beach is also the resting place of several eminent Keralites, including AK Gopalan and EK Nayanar. Sunset here is a daily ritual for the town.
