Sree Rajarajeshwara Temple, Taliparamba

One of the 108 ancient Shiva temples of Kerala, with a towering copper-roofed sanctum and a unique tradition of "Nei Vilakku".

The Rajarajeshwara Temple at Taliparamba is among the holiest Shiva temples of Kerala and one of the oldest in North Malabar. Its two-storeyed copper-plated sanctum is a masterpiece of Kerala temple architecture. Women are permitted inside only after the evening rituals, a rule that dates back centuries. Dress code and entry rules apply to Hindus only inside the sanctum.
