About Kunnathoor Padi Sree Muthappan Madappura

The original hill-forest abode (Aroodam) of Sree Muthappan, deep in the Western Ghats foothills near Naduvil. Unlike a conventional temple there is no sanctum: the deity is worshipped under an open tree-shrine. The Madappura comes alive only in the season from Dhanu 2 to Makaram 30, when Vellattam and Thiruvappana are performed daily and thousands trek up the forest path.
