About Parassinikkadavu Sree Muthappan Temple

The most visited Theyyam shrine in Kerala and the only place where Theyyam is performed every single day of the year. Set on the bank of the Valapattanam river, the Madappura is the seat of Sree Muthappan, a folk deity who fuses Vishnu (Thiruvappana) and Shiva (Vellattam). Muthappan Vellattam is performed every morning and evening, and the Thiruvappana on festival days. The temple is open to people of all faiths; toddy and dried fish are traditional offerings, and every visitor is served a free vegetarian meal (prasadam) and tea with boiled gram.
