A natural harbour below St. Angelo Fort where the morning fish auction is a slice of Kannur's coastal life.
Mappila Bay, between the fort and Ayikkara, has been a trading port since the Arab and Portuguese eras. Today it is Kannur's busiest fishing harbour; the early-morning landing and auction of the catch, with hundreds of boats and buyers, is a photographer's delight. A sea-wall walkway links it to the fort and Arakkal Museum.
