The 1708 British East India Company fort on a rocky cliff, with secret tunnels to the sea and the old lighthouse.
The British built Thalassery (Tellicherry) Fort in 1708 as the centre of their pepper and cardamom trade. The square laterite fort has massive walls, intricately carved doors and a ladder-like flight of steps. Nearby stand the Overbury's Folly seaside park, the old pier and the Church of St John.
