About Kadangodu Maakkam Bhagavathy Temple

This temple, located in Kunhimangalam, is named after the warrior Maakkam who is mentioned in the northern ballads of the Kadathanadan area. The joint family dwellings or tharavadu of Maakkam still exists, and both ancient home and renovated temple are in the same compound and supported equally by the household. Sakthikam and Swasthikam rites of worship are conducted at the temple. The temple is also the venue for Theyyams staged in the memory of the female fighters mentioned in the Kadathanadan ballads.
