About Kanjirathin Keezhil Bhagavathy Temple (Illathambalam)

Legend has it, that a Brahmin who had married into the Thekkumbattu Kulothu Manor could not cross the full and swollen river to reach his deity's temple. He stood on the bank worried. The place where he put down his umbrella is the location of the present temple. As a proof of this incident Bhrahma Rakshas or dark spirits, have also been installed in the temple. Once temple priests decide on the performance day, the festival is conducted in 2 days.
